(floorhockey with blades is pretty fun, too.) and i like to go running - its a great time to pray. new year, new semester

i'd say new semester, but one of my friends chooses not to view life only in semesters, so in honor of him i'll try to recognize that and view the flow of life in more then just school segments (since my little world has revolved around them for too long, now).  in december i finished my last classes at PBC.  finally!!  u have no idea how good that feels.  now, if only i could say i was graduated...  but we're slowly working on that one.  this semester, er Spring, i was going to take some of my last classes at High Point.  but that didn't work out.  i couldn't get into the classes i needed and one of those puts off graduation for another half- to whole year.  so, starting this 2007, i am a regular person, no longer impeded by school rules, and working full-time once again, just paying the bills.  i can't say that i don't like it.  i wish school was behind me and i could get out there and see what all there is.  but i don't mind NC one bit - i've still got lots of people here... plus is warmer.  :o)  so, its not another 'semester that i have to wait' ~ instead, it's just another chapter in life... still learning things the hard way (as i tend to do), but also finally picking up on many things that i wouldn't before.  God is still good.

Wedgie, anyone?

HEYYYY!!!  Yeah, I haven't written on here in forever and a half.  Anne only just now reminded me that I do have a Xanga account.  So, I promised I'd update.  Ta Da!!

Welllll, let's see.  Much has happened.  Ummmm, well, I'm really glad my Anne got Verizon so we can talk anytime!  (that's more exciting than it may seem, no really!)  lol  Ok, for serious...  I got to come home for Christmas break on Dec 20th and go straight to the airport to pick up my bro.  Twas rather joyous and exciting.  Even tho I didn't get to surprise mom in the way I wanted to... well, I still surprised her.  (mom was expecting me on the 23rd)  See, here's the deal:  I was gonna stoweaway in the back of mom's van (with the help of dad before she got in the car) and hide for the whole hour trip to the airport.  Then I was gonna sneak out of the car and follow them at a distance and then appear when they saw Matthew, as well.  Well, funny how that didn't quite go as planned...  Um, well, I got to the house at 3pm and mom was in the house waiting to leave - waiting on dad to get there from his apt.  So I parked my car around the block and sat there for 20 minutes till he got there.  He came up to my car and we sneaked around the corner into the alley where the garage is and he went into the yard and thru the door (from the yard to the garage) to open the garage door to the alley so I could crawl in the back of the van.  Problem.  Of all things, mom locked the van (only to find out later that she locked it cuz she had Matthew's money in the car.  ok, so that's understandable.  but stinkin inconvenient!)  So, dad went in the house to get the car keys from mom (who was ready to go, unfortunately) and he got to the car before she did.  At this point I am hiding in between the skinny space between the van and the wall, but away from where anyone could see me from the garage door.  Well, dad gets the keys, comes to the garage and ... Problem.  So did Samson.  This is bad.  Very bad.  Mom still wasn't there, but this is all happening in a matter of seconds.  Samson comes around the van and notices me.  He's a lab.  He's big and he gets excited.  It's kinda hard to hide that.  Well, he comes right up to me - I'm still crouching between the van and the wall.  And he's happy, so his tail is goin hyperspeed.  Not only is it smacking the car, which, being metal, makes a lot of banging noise, but there is also a tin can of some sort against the wall.  So, his tail is hitting the van, the can, the van, the can... and it sounded a little something like this:  Ping! Ping! Ping! Ping! Ping! Ping! Ping!  etc.  In case you hadn't noticed, that's not too secretive.  Well, dad gets the key in the door and I dive in the car.  The lights are on in the garage and now also in the car because we opened the doors.  I thought she saw me, but she didn't.  And Samson's excitement could be passed off for going on a car ride.  Well, Problem.  As I dove in the back of the car, I immediately realized that her van is not the same as mine.  There aren't two bench seats in the back.  Instead there are 4 bucket seats in the car and one bench seat in the back.  Also, last time I was home, the bench seat was out.  I was planning on hiding under a blanket in that open space.  Ha!  Problem.  I did not fit very well between the bucket seat (which i later realized was tilted back also) and the bench.  In fact, my butt was sticking out, as well as a foot.  Dad sat in one of the middle seats in attempts to cover up my hide.  Didn't work.  Mom turned around and said - "Harry, is someone in here?"  He tried his best to deny that the obvious butt belonged to a person cowering in the back seat.  But I had sneakers on that mom didn't recognize.  She said "Is that Elizabeth?  But wait, she doesn't have shoes like that.  Harry, who is it?"  Dad's still tryin.  "Who's what?  There isn't anyone."  But from the moment I dove into that spot and I thought she saw me (when she hadn't) up to this point when she had pulled halfway out of the garage and then noticed the butt, I had been silently shaking with laughter.  I had been caught.  But, at the point of giving myself up, I realized how stuck I was.  So dad thought it was cute to give me a wedgie.  Not cute, dad.  Well, out I wiggled.  Samson was jumping all over the car.  Dad got in the front seat.  I crawled to a middle seat.  And we took off.  So, my surprise appearence didn't quite go as I had planned.  (who wants to see someone's butt first, seriously)  LOL ~ but we all talked non-stop to State College to pick up Matthew and I told mom my plan of showing up at the point when Matthew arrived off the plane, that obviously didn't work.  But it was a good idea, anyway.  (if only it weren't for the locked car, Samson, and bucket seats... we coulda pulled it off, lol)

Change

Wow.  Life is very different this semester.  Last semester of classes at PBC.  Living off campus... FINALLY!  (And its more wonderfuller than anything I could've imaginated!)  Taking only 12 hours of classes - and they're all spread out.  Working two jobs (so far... may upgrade to three).  And, unfortunately, not getting to see and hang out with old friends so much (due to the off campusness, and well, just cause some of those friends just aren't here cuz they've moved on... actually, that has happened with a lot of them).  So, things are just, well, different.  But its not bad.  Change is good.  Living with Nard and Carroll is the best thing that's happened to me.  They keep telling me how blessed they are to have me staying with them - but I'm the one that's being blessed all up the right side and down the left!!!  They are wonderful!  This is a house of ministry.  And they are so hospitable - having company and counselees here all the time; and wanting me to have company, as well!  I couldn't have lived anywhere better.  Also, I'm working two jobs right now - one is cleaning Grace Hall (not that exciting) and the other is working in the cafe at Master's Loft (it's insanely demanding, but good because the day flies - we're always kept busy with work).  Christmas is going to be insane there!!!  (tons of business)  This job has been a challenge because it's so demanding, but its good for me.  I enjoy the customers so much.  A ton of ministry goes on in that cafe!!!   God is all over that place!  :o)  It's good.  Well, speaking of work, I need to go in early tomorrow, so I need to get off so I can get some good rest and be ready for the day -- FRIDAY!!!  (yea!!)

God is good ALL the time.  All the time, God is good.    (Can I get a witness?!?!)  <><

just a little update ! :o)

Hey All!

(I'm back in the South -- I know, you can't tell, right).  Last semester of classes at PBC.  Just about to move off campus... FINALLY...  and landing a second job (well, it's in the works, but very very promising).  Mr. Pittman does not cease to call me heartbreaker and has made it a newfound mission of his to find a man for me (oh joy)  LOL.  It just seems that all the ones I pick... (well, nevermind).  But I haven't wanted the ones that have asked.  Ah, well.  Life is a paradox at times.  (I don't know if that qualifies as a paradox or just tough luck)  Ha!  Well, I'm definitely having a blast at life -- probably more so than if i weren't single/free.  :o)  Ummm, I think that's about it.  (I'm trying to forget the amount of debt I'm accruing this semester, so we won't talk about that.)  Ok, now you write, and tell me about your lives!  :o)

plum tuckered out...

today was a great summer day, as most are.    mom and i did a lot of work around the house.  lots of work.  we took on some big projects on today, and dad came along unexpectedly and helped us out a ton.  i woke up and came downstairs where mom was painting some more of the border on in the dining room.  i groggily got a bowl of cereal and then we went outside to start the work.  we have one of those old lawn mowers - ya know, the kind that you push and the blades spiral forward.  that old.  well, that takes some muscle and re-mowing over any spot of thick grass.  so, i mowed the grass in the backyard while mom cleared off all the potted plants, etc. from the blacktop which extends from the backyard to the front of the house.  then i hosed it all down to clean it up a bit so we could lay the blacktop.  well, along comes dad to change the spark plugs on my car.  we asked him a question about it before we started and he just went out to his jeep and changed into old sneakers and did the whole thing for us... and still changed my spark plugs before he had to go to work at 5.  my dad does a lot for us.  he's good at taking care of all of us -- even tho he doesn't even live here.   well, then also throughout the day mom and i put up a wallpaper border in the enclosed front porch -- "there's no place like home" -- my mom's favorite. annnd what else?  mom ran in to nan and pap's house real quick to help them with the washer (nanny has forgotten how to use it i think, and with pappy being blind... -- things are getting very difficult.  it is sad and hard on pappy), then mom made lunch and i vaccuumed the whole house.  we were gonna go to delgrosso's amusement park and go on the rides and mini golf this evening, but i think we used up our day and energy with all our projects!  we'll go on monday, tho... my last day here before going down to w-s for kate's wedding, and maybe for fall semester -- i'm not sure if i'll be staying here or going back down for the fall, yet.  we'll see!  it would be nice for mom to not be alone if i stayed.  hopefully matthew will be back in january or february if he doesn't get sent over to war.  and i can help out a lot with nanny and pappy, as that need is growing by the day it seems.  ... and i could go to coffee house every thursday night ... and go salsa dancing every wednesday night ...  ya know, the important things to consider.  i could take my two classes online this semester still, here at home.  and then pick up at high point in the spring, as i was planning to do anyway.  either way - stay or go - i'll be graduating spring '08.  ah, well, enough of my planning and thinking.  it was a good day, but i should rest up for now so i can be refreshed for sunday tomorrow, when i get to be a cowgirl in morning service for the last day of VBS and then be superheros with some very fun people before bible study hehe.  goodnight!

God is good all the time.  All the time God is good.
